How to Play (Your Turn)
When it is your turn, roll the die for your current stage. Then, check the result:
Result Type
What It Means
Success
The roll is in the top half of the die's range. Move to next stage.
Critical Success
Max number on the die. Skip the next stage (except Stage 7).
Fail
Roll in the bottom half of the die's range. Return to where you started at the beginning of this turn. Turn ends.
Critical Fail
Roll a 1. Go back to Stage 1. Turn ends.
If you roll a Success, you advance to the next stage (or skip the next stage for Critical Success) and choose one of the following:
Press Your Luck: Roll the die for your new stage immediately. You may continue rolling after each success until you choose to rest, roll a Fail, or roll a Critical Fail.
Rest: End your turn and save your progress, starting at your current stage on your next turn. (You cannot rest after a Fail or Critical Fail, as your turn ends immediately.)
Gold Dragon
Stage 7 is the ultimate challenge. You must roll a Critical Success (meeting or beating the Critical Success target) to win!
Gold Dragon's Might: To slay the Gold Dragon, you need a Critical Success on a d20, initially requiring a roll of 20. Each Success (15-19) at Stage 7 weakens the dragon, reducing the Critical Success target by 1 (down to a minimum of 15). This affects all players, so strike swiftly to claim victory!
A Critical Success from earlier stages cannot skip Stage 7.
Only one roll per turn is allowed—no pressing your luck!
